The apartment refurbishment stipulations were two-fold—to maximise the panoramic view of the river and golf course and to draw the night sky into the interior. The response incorporates notions of simulated and virtual experience. The orientation of the windows on the riverside is subverted through the insertion of mirrors or ‘virtual windows’ on the opposite wall, framed by a lofted wall twisted between wall and ceiling to construct the illusion of a 360-degree river frontage. Computer controlled LED lighting and laser-cut ceiling panels correlate with the different functional zones of the plan, mimicking the night sky in a virtual constellation of tiny globes.
