The existing three levels of the terrace were demolished and a new internal program of “spaces” rather than “rooms” inserted, using a series of translucent, moveable screens and panels which allows the occupant to control their levels of privacy, elevating everyday activities into voyeuristic frames. At night, these screens become lanterns creating a subtle, sensual layering, reinforcing the notion that the private house is an extension of the physical body. The traditional notion of a room does not exist, the thresholds are not defined.

As you move through the space via the open staircase, the function of each level becomes more private; the ground floor is the “café”, the middle floor a traditional “Salon” and the top floor the “boudoir”.
