The Churchill Community Hub houses a childcare centre, health programs, men’s shed, community kitchen and offices, and all are internally grounded to the site by the Library. The competing needs of the modern centre are expressed metaphorically as the building is wrapped by a series of built elements—block work, fascia to roof and fence—to create its form. The design’s inspiration was based on the Latrobe Valley’s association with the production of electricity and in particular the power poles that cross the region.
