Within the perimeter of an existing engineering foundry, volume, materials and colour have been employed to express the strong corporate image of Norman Disney and Young (a multi-disciplinary building services consultancy and leader in ESD). The interior functions as a comfortable open plan work environment, with a staircase designed using a skin of tensioned wires as a balustrade to promote physical and visual interaction. The five star Green Star rating models the company’s raison d’être, as do exposed building service, which contribute to the building’s restrained technical and industrial ambiance, and have added value as an on-site study.
