The contemporary coastal home reverses typical suburban site organisation to allow for a series of north facing living rooms that open onto a private garden. Additionally, the boundary fence, used as a critical datum point, shaped the floor plan. The ground floor plan is highly structured, with defined rooms maximising access to northern sun and garden views, while the upper level is more fractured as individual rooms shift geometries to access light and views revealed above the line of the datum fence. The central skylight over the kitchen is the point of junction between the two levels.
