The Trek Store employs high efficiency lighting throughout, with a black ceiling to create more contrast. The existing concrete block wall was retained to soak up pollutants, and the concrete soffit used as a ceiling acts as a heat sink. Minimal materials were used in construction. The depth of the shelves is close to the standard width of the timber supplied, and the façade is created from timber offcuts. LVLs and ply were selected, which use almost every part of the tree.
