What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The Pregnant Chair was designed as a sustainable piece of furniture, to be involved in a lasting relationship with its owner, fostered by the piece’s human characteristics. As a wooden chair that fits a smaller chair within its body, it is an expression of the beautiful physical and emotional relationship between a mother and child – the reliance and the interconnection. The smaller chair can be removed to seat a mother and child.
