What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
SILHOUETTE is a long bank of continuous work space with a bench top, two storage box supports and four demountable leg positions that allow use in isolation or combination. The different timbers and use of light set up contrasting object/plane and figure/ground relationships. Light interacts with the backdrop surface to produce a hybrid plane – both material and light – rendering the illusion of a floating ‘figure’, or a ‘SILHOUETTE’ within the created physical plane.
