The house’s modular, kit construction reduced material consumption and only a small wheelbarrow removed minimal site waste. Glazed, operable sliding glass panels, sliding timber slatted screens on the outside of the glass, adjustable louvres and ceiling fans increase natural light, cross ventilation, views in and out and the flexibility of all three. The large overhanging roof extends the internal space and provides shade and protection. Energy and water efficient appliances powered by renewable energy and local materials, preferably pre-fabricated off site, were selected.
