What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The conceptual design is based around colours associated with Perth Airport; the blue of the sky, the yellow of the sun and the dark grey of the tarmac. The colour palette is reflected in the refined materials and finishes of the public spaces and more playfully in bolder colours in staff areas. Inspiration also came from airport language and symbols, for example the illuminated large format numbers for meeting rooms echo arrival and departure gate numbers. The egalitarian modular planning grid can be easily reconfigured.
